Orientation Meal

I haven't even left yet and I have exciting news to share! USC has a contact person in the UK who is paid to take us on outings and generally be helpful. Said contact person--Dr. Sharkey--has arranged for an all-expenses paid dinner at a restaurant my first week in London. We will be going to Wagamama, an Oriental restaurant off of Picadilly Circus. (Note for those who have never been to the UK: Asian refers to peoples from the Mid-East, Oriental to peoples from the Far-East, such as Koreans and Japanese.) If you are interested in menu items and/or location of said restaurant, it is the one marked Soho, London on the restaurant locator.

But the evening does not stop there! We will also be taken that same night to see The 39 Steps at the Criterion Theatre. This is a comedy that is on my list of shows to see in London, so I am very excited to see it. I will try to take pictures to post, so check back next week!

Welcome to Letters from London

Welcome friends and family! Due to popular demand, I have put together this travel blog to keep those of you stuck in the States informed of my goings-on. At the very least, I hope to post once a week, complete with pictures from my adventures. Feel free to leave comments or questions if you are so inclined.

A quick guide to the features on your left: The clock is set to London time so you will easily know that 8 PM PST means 4 AM in London. Below that is the daily weather report, for those of you who are interested. And if you aren't quite so agile at converting Celsius to Fahrenheit, a converter has been provided for your convenience.

I am leaving on January 2nd, 2009, so I expect the blog to be dormant until then, but who knows, maybe there is an exciting packing update in your future!

Sincerely Yours,

Caitlin
