Thursday night my band of friends decided to try our hand at another West End show. Our original plans were to see Oliver! but tickets were sold out; we believe that since Rowan Atkinson recently joined the cast as Fagan, tickets may be a little harder to come by for that particular venue. So instead we opted for Chicago, and a fine time was had by all. This time we bought from one of the many "half-price" stalls lining the streets of the West End as we were a bit far from Leister Square. Tickets for the first balcony (Royal Circle) were 35 pounds, a little more than we paid for Phantom Tickets. The show was quite good, if a bit abstract (unlike in the movie, there's very little attempt to create a "real world;" it is one song after another connected by a handful of dialogue scenes, and the set is little more than chairs and a giant bandstand onstage for the orchestra). Pictures below!
